Uptown is one of the most popular neighborhoods in Dallas, and very pedestrian-friendly. You can eat, shop, workout, and have a day at the spa all within walking distance from your place. McKinney Avenue is one of the most happening streets in Dallas!

The Good

  • From restaurants, gyms, grocery stores, and basically anything you want to do for fun… it’s all at your fingertips.
  • Luxe highrises and cobblestone streets, come together to bring you the hustle and bustle of the city, with stellar views, without all the downtown traffic.
  • Parks and trails are all within walking distance, so you get a taste of the city with the outdoorsy vibe.

The Bad

  • Uptown is all about location, location, location…which means higher rental rates.
  • Based on your building, you might be able to hear highway traffic.
  • One way streets can take a little to get used to when navigating the city.

West Village runs across the northern part of Uptown. From yoga to fro-yo, this neighborhood has boutiques, wellness centers, wine bars, and a variety of cuisine. West Village has some of the best patios in town to enjoy a nice margarita, like Taco Diner and Village Burger Bar! If you’re a foodie, Malai is the hot spot for Thai dishes. The Magnolia Theater is the go-to for independent films. West Village received the Obelisk Award from the Business Council for their efforts to bring art to the city…Yes, these walls are perfect for Instagram selfies.

Yardbird Southern table & Bar has a must-taste fried chicken. Core Power Yoga offers classes for beginners or long-time yogis. Katy Trail, once an abandoned railroad, now is a 3.5 mile trail where you can run, bike, and in-line skate! The most iconic way to travel around is the M-Line trolley, which starts at City Place and will take you down to the Dallas Museum of Art (all for free). Apartments get some of the downtown views, and hustle and bustle of the city!

State Thomas has more of the cobblestone street vibe, and borders the southeast part of Uptown. It’s a Victorian home feeling, mixed with coffee shops, markets, and bar lounges. There is even a local speakeasy, Parliament, that brings some fun authenticity   to the neighborhood craft cocktail. To say Dallas is pet-friendly is an understatement, not just on patios, but parks. Griggs Park is 8 acres of paths and city skylines that is a fun place to spend on a sunny afternoon.
